1 Year Checkup

Ava had her 1 year check up this morning.  She weighed in at 18 lbs. 12 oz. which puts her in the 12th percentile!  :)  She is 29 inches tall which puts her in the 50th percentile!  She's still our little petite girl.  Our doctor was very pleased with everything that Ava is doing....walking; saying Mama and Dada; putting the phone to her ear; brushing her own hair as well as Mommy and Daddy's; plays peek-a-boo; and uses her pincher fingers to grasp food or objects.  Ava still isn't a big eater.  I could barely get her to eat anything today.  Very frustrating but the doctor said not to worry about it, she'll eat when she's hungry.  She does not like any type of baby food now.  She wants all finger food and doesn't want you to feed her!  :)  This makes it a little easier on us.  But, harder to make sure she is getting all of her vitamins and nutrients.  So, we are starting her on a little Pediasure once a day just to give her a little extra since she doesn't love to eat!  She got 1 shot today, the Hepatitis A and she did pretty good.  She was a little fussy this afternoon but not too bad.  Ava has also recently learned how to throw a temper tantrum!  Apparantly, it's payback for all those times I put my parents through it.  Ava put on quite the show in the doctors office and made sure Dr. Burzynksi knew what she was doing at home to Mommy and Daddy.  Dr. Burzynski was shocked that such a sweet little girl could throw that big of a tantrum but also said it's completely normal...she's going through the terrible 1's!!!!  But, most likely she won't go through the terrible 2's.  It's a trade off!  

Well, that's the update for today.  She goes back to the doctor for her 15 month checkup in August.
